Welcoming the Tokina 80-200 f2.8 AT-X Pro

This is my new telephoto lens, previously I use Nikkor 70-300 f4.5-5.6 for telephoto. But it lack of low light ability. So, I bought this Tokina 80-200 f2.8 AT-X Pro for a better low light photography such as night shooting, or ballroom lights. It can be consider as Tokina  legendary lens because they stop producing it already. i don't know why, but lately Tokina  are focusing on mid range telephoto and superwide lenses. Maybe those lenses bring more profit to them.

 

 

Talking about its image qualities. For widest open (f2.8) the photo seems to be soft on the edge. That's normal for most telephoto lenses except for new generations that are integrated with image stabilization mechanism. But for this lens, starting from f4 and more, the image seem to be sharp and less softness. I think it is so reasonable for KameraMin to use this especially for Wedding and Portrait photography.

 

 

 

The best part it, the lens produces almost 0% distortion. So the pictures are just as what i wanted it to be. No need to do any distortion repair in Photoshop (which I don't like to do for such problem). The lens come with front cover and rear cover along with hood. Cannot find any photo about the hood. the lens is complete enough for me and useful for lowlight. Will shoot more moment with this lens, because I can stay far from my subjects.
